Kolkata, 25 February (H.S.): A shocking incident unfolded in Kolkata on Tuesday morning when two women were caught trying to dump a trolley bag into the Ganges near Kumartuli Ghat. Locals found their behavior suspicious and alerted the police. Upon opening the bag, authorities discovered a decapitated body. Eyewitnesses claimed that the corpse belonged to a woman.
As news spread, a large crowd gathered at the scene, leading to chaos. The police swiftly took the two women into custody and seized the trolley bag. However, angry locals surrounded the police vehicle, demanding that the accused be handed over to them. They alleged that the women had murdered someone and were trying to dispose of the evidence by throwing the body into the river.
During initial questioning, the detained women denied the allegations, claiming that the bag contained a dog’s carcass. However, locals refused to believe them, insisting that the body parts inside the bag belonged to a human female.
Further suspicions arose when the police found a train ticket in the women’s possession, with Kaji Para Station on the Sealdah-Hasnabad line mentioned on it. This suggested that the suspects had traveled from a distant location to Kolkata to dispose of the body.
Adding another twist to the case, a taxi driver revealed that the two women had initially visited Prinsep Ghat on Tuesday morning but later returned and headed to Kumartuli Ghat. The police are currently conducting a thorough investigation and questioning the suspects to uncover the truth behind this gruesome incident.
