Guwahati, 21 February (HS): Noonmati police arrested an accused and recovered a Toyota Fortuner (AS-01-EP-5752) from his possession. This vehicle was recovered from Narikal Basti area of the Gitanagar police station area.

The arrested accused has been identified as Hrishikesh Sharma.

It is known that on 01 February 2024, the accused had rented the said vehicle for 15 days under a written contract from Suresh Kumar Rai, resident of Narengi Tinali, the purpose of which was stated to be to visit Ram temple in Ayodhya. But despite a year passing, the accused did not return the vehicle.

During the investigation, Noonmati police recovered the said vehicle from Narikal Basti, which the accused had sold to a person named Krishna Gogoi. Police is investigating the matter further.
