BIS Madurai Hosts Successful Two-Day Training Program


Chennai, 21 February (H.S.) : BIS Madurai conducted a 2-day training program on Friday on Indian Standards for Yarn and Polypropylene (PP) bags. The program aimed to enhance knowledge and skills of quality control personnel from textile, spinning, and yarn manufacturing companies. 26 participants attended the program, which covered Indian Standards, product manuals, testing methodologies, and BIS guidelines. Key speakers included Sh. S.D. Dayanand, Senior Director & Head, BIS Madurai, and Sh. Praveen Khanna, Deputy Director General (South), BIS Chennai.

According to press release of PIB ,The training session covered several Indian Standards (IS), including: IS 17265: 2023, IS 3566: 2023,IS 17261: 2022,IS 17262: 2022,IS 17263: 2022,IS 14968: 2015 and IS 11652: 2017. The training program, conducted at the BIS Madurai Office, saw participation from 26 quality control personnel representing various textile, spinning and yarn manufacturing companies. The course was designed to enhance participants' knowledge of Indian standards, product manuals, testing methodologies, and BIS guidelines, which are crucial for license management and compliance for the above group of Indian Standards.

Sh. S.D. Dayanand, Senior Director & Head, BIS Madurai, delivered the welcome address, emphasizing the importance of the course and encouraging participants to leverage this opportunity to ensure high product quality. The event was formally inaugurated by Sh. Praveen Khanna, Deputy Director General (South), BIS Chennai, who outlined BIS initiatives to maintain standards and periodic updates in the capsule course. He urged participants to utilize this learning experience to uphold quality benchmarks.

The program concluded with a live demonstration of yarn testing methods and the presentation of completion certificates to participants.
