Guwahati, 06 December (HS): In a swift operation, Guwahati’s Basistha police arrested two notorious thieves before they could execute a planned burglary. Police said on Saturday that a team from Basistha Police Station intercepted a Tata Magic vehicle near Belotola College Road in Bangaon and apprehended the duo who were roaming suspiciously.

During the search, the team recovered burglary tools and two stolen mobile phones from their possessions. The items were seized on the spot.

The arrested accused have been identified as Abdul Latif (30) and Atikur Rahman (25), both residents of Hajo. Police confiscated a Tata Magic vehicle (AS-01SC-8478), an open-ended wrench, an iron opener, a metal rod, one stolen Realme mobile phone and one stolen Redmi mobile phone.

A case has been registered in connection with the incident and further legal action is underway, police added.---------
