Thiruvananthapuram, 5 Dec (H.S.):The Global Preventive Onco Summit 2026, scheduled to take place from January 16 to 18 in Thiruvananthapuram, has received high praise from former Union Minister Meenakshi Lekhi, who lauded the Swasthi Foundation for conceptualising and organising the world’s first global summit dedicated exclusively to cancer prevention. The landmark event will convene more than 200 eminent cancer specialists, researchers, and public-health leaders from across the world, including experts from the Mayo Clinic (USA) and the World Health Organization (WHO).

In a strong endorsement of the initiative, Meenakshi Lekhi said:

“It gives me immense pleasure to extend my heartfelt congratulations to the Swasthi Foundation for their remarkable vision and leadership in organizing the Global Preventive Onco Summit 2026, one of its kind anywhere in the world. This pioneering initiative, taking place right here in Thiruvananthapuram, marks a moment of historic significance, not merely for Kerala, not merely for India, but for the global medical fraternity at large. For the first time, the world’s foremost minds in oncology, public health, and medical innovation are coming together, not to discuss how to treat cancer after it strikes, but how to prevent it before it begins.

I am particularly heartened to note the participation of eminent institutions such as the Mayo Clinic and the World Health Organization, whose involvement underscores the global relevance and scientific gravitas of this summit. Their collaboration with our own Indian experts reaffirms that the fight against cancer transcends borders, politics, and paradigm.

It’s truly inspiring to see the Swasthi Foundation taking such a bold step towards preventing cancer globally. The Global Preventive Onco Summit 2026 is indeed a groundbreaking initiative that brings together the best minds in oncology and public health. Kudos to the organizers for bringing this event to Thiruvananthapuram and making it a global platform for cancer prevention. The involvement of prestigious institutions like Mayo Clinic and WHO adds significant value to the summit. Looking forward to the impactful discussions and outcomes.”

Organised by the Swasthi Foundation, the summit is being held in collaboration with leading global and national institutions, including the Mayo Clinic, WHO, Kerala University of Health Sciences, and several international oncology associations. The conference will focus on advancing preventive oncology, enhancing early detection strategies, and formulating long-term policy frameworks aimed at reducing global cancer incidence.

A wide array of professional associations—such as the Kerala Association of Surgical Oncologists, Indian Radiology and Imaging Association, Indian Medical Association (Kerala Branch), Association of Radiation Oncologists of India (Kerala Chapter), and Kerala Medical & Paediatric Oncologists Association—have extended strong support. Major hospitals and healthcare institutions including Aster India, Apollo Hospitals, SUT Pattom, Gokulam Medical College, NIMS Medicity, SK Hospital, GG Hospital, PRAN Hospital, Hans Foundation, and Malabar Cancer Care Society are partnering with the event.

Experts from China, Russia, Amsterdam, Bahrain, Oman, Canada, Tata Memorial Centre, Aster, Apollo, and Kerala’s government cancer centres will participate, helping shape a global strategic roadmap for cancer prevention. Discussions will also explore the formation of a Cancer Prevention Research and Training Institute through a public–private partnership model.

The Delhi-based People’s Choice events group is managing the overall coordination, with Phlami Abraham and BB George Chacko serving as event coordinators.

The Global Preventive Onco Summit 2026 is expected to establish Kerala as a global hub for preventive oncology and serve as a milestone in reshaping the world’s approach to the fight against cancer.
