Cachar (Assam), 05 December (HS): A 10-year-old girl was killed on the spot after being hit by a speeding motorcycle at Hattichara on the Silchar–Haflong road on Thursday night. The police informed on Friday that the victim has been identified as Ripa Guala of Hattichara Tea Estate.

According to locals, the child was crossing the road when the motorcycle suddenly came from the opposite direction and ran her over. The rider fled the scene immediately after the accident.

Police reached the spot shortly after the incident, conducted preliminary investigation and recovered the body. The remains have been sent to Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) for post-mortem examination. The investigation to trace the absconding rider is underway.-------
