
Bhubaneswar, 5 December (H.S.): As many as 1,430 Professor posts are currently lying vacant in state-run universities across Odisha, Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj informed the State Assembly on Friday.
Providing details on ongoing recruitment processes, the Minister said that the selection of Vice-Chancellors for 14 universities is presently underway, and interviews of the applicants have already been completed.
Suraj further stated that 566 lecturer posts are vacant in government colleges across the state. The Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) has recently advertised 385 lecturer posts, and the selection process is progressing. The Higher Education Department has also urged the Commission to initiate recruitment for an additional 304 vacant positions.
In the private sector, a total of 1,689 lecturer posts remain unfilled in various colleges across Odisha. The Minister added that nearly 300 lecturers are currently on deputation under the School and Mass Education Department.
