Bhubaneswar, 4 December (H.S.): The Odisha State Medicinal Plants Board will organize the 18th State-Level Kalinga Herbal Mela at Exhibition Ground, Unit-3, Bhubaneswar, from December 10 to 16, 2025. Members of Vana Suraksha Samitis (VSS), traditional healers, medicinal plant cultivators, primary collectors, researchers, students and the general public from across the state are expected to participate in the event.
In view of the upcoming fair and with the objective of increasing awareness about medicinal plants, the Board has launched a state-level online quiz programme.
Through this quiz, school students and the general public will get an opportunity to enhance their knowledge about the use of medicinal plants, traditional healing practices, seasonal benefits, possible side effects, and commonly used herbs in household remedies. The initiative is expected to play a significant role in promoting conservation of medicinal plants and strengthening traditional healthcare systems.
Those interested in participating can visit the official website of the Odisha State Medicinal Plants Board — smpbodisha.in (Quiz Section) — to register online easily. Upon successful completion of the quiz, participants will be able to download a certificate.
The Board has expressed hope that this initiative will help instill a sense of responsibility among students towards environmental conservation and natural resource protection, while also encouraging the younger generation to adopt healthier lifestyles.
