The Trinamool Congress on Thursday suspended Bharatpur MLA Humayun Kabir on charges of indiscipline. Hours after the announcement, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee launched a sharp attack during her public meeting in Behrampore, without naming him directly. She said that if even one grain of paddy turns rotten, it must be removed to prevent the entire stock from getting spoiled. “I have removed the rotten grain,” she declared.

Humayun Kabir had been repeatedly making statements that went against the party line. Despite several warnings, he continued issuing controversial remarks, triggering internal tensions. His latest comment once again sparked controversy, prompting the party to take stern action.

Earlier in the morning, Firhad Hakim announced Kabir’s suspension at a press conference, stating that the party would no longer maintain any association with him. Notably, Kabir was present at Mamata Banerjee’s Behrampore rally when the decision was made public. Immediately after receiving the news, he left the stage and exited the venue.
