
Bhubaneswar, 4 December (H.S.): Lightning strikes have caused 92 fatalities in Odisha so far this year, Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari informed the State Assembly on Thursday through a written reply.
Providing district-wise details, the minister stated that Bargarh recorded the highest number of deaths (10), followed by Koraput (8) and Angul (7). He further added that four deaths were reported during floods, while another four occurred due to nor’wester storms.
The government has advised citizens to exercise extreme caution during thunderstorms, urging people to stay away from open fields, tall trees, and water bodies during periods of heavy rain and lightning.
