Guwahati, 04 December (HS): Hindu Suraksha Sena, Assam has urged the government and administration to further intensify the ongoing nationwide drive to deport illegal foreigners, including in Assam, in line with Supreme Court and Central government directives.
In a press statement, Central Committee president Kanchan Nath and general secretary Akash Saikia claimed that despite a large number of illegal Bangladeshi Muslims living in the state, only around 100–150 have been deported so far. They alleged that certain “Left-Islamic groups” are attempting to obstruct the process.
The organisation said recent drives have had little impact in areas like Barpeta, Dhubri and the char regions, which they described as strongholds of illegal migrants. They stressed the need to intensify searches in Middle Assam, Lower Assam and char areas, even with Army assistance if required.
Central secretary Mithun Das also welcomed the Assam government's decision to implement the Uniform Civil Code and bring legislation against “love jihad”, urging swift execution of both measures.
