
Guwahati, 04 December (HS): The Bashistha Police of Guwahati City have arrested a habitual thief on charges of stealing gold ornaments from a residence in the city last night. Officials said on Thursday that the case, registered on Wednesday night, was solved in less than six hours through swift action by the police team.
According to police, the accused, identified as Dhiraj Nath (24) of Sipajhar, was apprehended with stolen items in his possession. The recovered articles include a gold chain, a pair of gold earrings, a pair of gold bangles, two ATM cards belonging to the complainant and some cash.
The complainant had reported that valuable items were stolen from his residence at Latakakhari in Lokhra. Following the complaint, an investigation was launched immediately, leading to the prompt arrest of the accused.
Police said intensive interrogation of the arrested thief is underway based on the lodged FIR.
