
New Delhi, 4 December (H.S.): Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday inaugurated a new mist spray system at ITO as part of the city government’s ongoing efforts to curb dust and improve air quality in the national capital.Gupta personally inspected the site and reviewed the system’s operation, its effectiveness, and the decline in particulate dust levels in the surrounding area.
Emphasizing the government’s commitment, she stated, “Pollution control remains the government’s topmost priority in Delhi.”
Highlighting the city’s wide-ranging pollution control strategy, the Chief Minister said the Delhi Government has been conducting a sustained and large-scale campaign focused on cleanliness, dust mitigation, and waste management. She noted that the administration is working in mission mode across all departments to bring pollution levels under control.
Gupta announced the formation of a high-level committee comprising senior officials, experts from IITs, and environmental scientists to continuously monitor and devise effective measures for pollution reduction. She also issued strict instructions to all departments, warning that any negligence toward pollution control will not be tolerated.
The Chief Minister directed the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) to impose immediate penalties on government institutions found neglecting cleanliness or pollution norms. She further ordered that FIRs be registered against agencies conducting unauthorised road cutting or delaying repairs.
Gupta added that thousands of kilometres of roads are being cleaned daily to keep the city dust-free. Special rapid-response teams have been deployed in identified pollution hotspots to ensure swift and effective interventions.
“The Delhi Government is fully committed to making the capital’s air cleaner. All departments and agencies are working around the clock to achieve this,” she said.
Education Minister Ashish Sood and senior officials from various departments were also present at the inauguration event.
