
Hooghly, 4 December (H.S.): A man's decomposed body was recovered from his house in Uttarpara area of Hooghly district on Thursday. Disturbed by the foul smell, local residents searched for the cause and discovered a half-naked, blood-soaked, and decomposed body inside the house. The incident came to light on Thursday after a strong odor spread throughout the area. Immediately after receiving the information, Uttarpara police arrived at the scene.
The incident occurred in the Amarnath Bank Colony area of Uttarpara. The deceased has been identified as 46-year-old Manoranjan Basak. According to reports, Manoranjan's mother, married sister, and her family lived on the ground floor of the same house where he lived.
The family said that Manoranjan was deeply addicted to alcohol and drugs. He had divorced his wife some time ago, which worsened both his mental state and addiction.
Local residents have raised several questions. They ask how the family, who was on the ground floor of the house, didn't notice the strong odor coming from upstairs. Locals question why Manoranjan's family didn't check on him for several days.
These questions make the incident even more suspicious, raising various suspicions about the circumstances of his death.
Upon receiving the information, the police immediately arrived at the home and began investigating. The police said that they are investigating to determine whether the death was unnatural or a case of murder.
The body has been sent for postmortem and the police are questioning the family and neighbors.
