A major administrative development has taken place within the Border Security Force (BSF) as Bhupendra Singh has officially assumed charge as the Inspector General of the South Bengal Frontier. He replaces Anish Prasad, IPS, who has been transferred to the BSF Headquarters in New Delhi.
Bhupendra Singh is a direct entry officer of the 1990 batch of the BSF cadre. He began his career as an Assistant Commandant in the BSF. With over 34 years of distinguished service, Mr. Singh is a highly respected and decorated officer.
During his long career, he has held several important positions, including the United Nations Mission, NACP Okha, and deputation to the SPG. He has also had the honor of commanding two BSF sectors in Amritsar and Gandhinagar. His leadership and efficiency in internal security, border management, and sensitive operations have been widely recognized.
Upon assuming office, Bhupendra Singh said that the South Bengal Frontier is one of the most sensitive areas along the India-Bangladesh international border. He stated that his priorities would be to further strengthen border security, curb smuggling and other illegal cross-border activities, and enhance the welfare and morale of the troops deployed along the border.
He also said that maintaining cordial relations among the border guarding forces and strengthening coordination with other security and intelligence agencies are essential to ensuring peace, security, and stability in the region.
