Kolkata, 4 December (H.S.): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) IT cell chief Amit Malviya claimed in a detailed post on Twitter on Thursday that West Bengal is experiencing a rapid exodus of business companies. He said this situation reflects the state's complete economic failure, and this has now been officially confirmed. According to Malviya, the Union Commerce Ministry has clearly stated that a large number of companies are leaving Bengal.
Malviya said that in response to a question from BJP state president Shamik Bhattacharya, the ministry submitted a detailed 223-page list to Parliament, detailing the companies that have left Bengal. This list has raised serious concerns about the state's economic situation.
According to him, a total of 207 companies have left West Bengal in the last six months. Furthermore, a total of 6,895 companies have left the state since Mamata Banerjee came to power in 2011. According to Malviya, the Trinamool Congress government is trying to conceal this dire situation, but the figures speak for themselves.
Amit Malviya also claimed that those leaving Bengal include many large, listed companies with market capitalizations running into thousands of crores of rupees. The companies he cited as examples include Netweb Technologies, Gallant Ispat, Eureka Forbes, JK Tire, Sanatan Textiles, Greenpanel Industries, National Standard, and many other major companies. Their withdrawal from Bengal is being considered a major blow to both investment and employment.
Malviya alleged that due to the Mamata Banerjee government's policies, West Bengal has become a no-go zone for investors. He said that while other states in the country are attracting large-scale foreign and domestic investment, the industrial environment in Bengal is continuously deteriorating and investors are fleeing the state. This situation is pushing the state back 20 years economically.
The BJP leader said that this large-scale exodus of companies is rapidly reducing employment opportunities in West Bengal and weakening the economic structure. According to Malviya, the Mamata Banerjee government's economic policies and anti-industry environment are solely responsible for this situation.
TMC is yet to react over the BJP leader's allegations.
