Kolkata, 31 December (H.S.):
The political turmoil in West Bengal has intensified. Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Leader of Opposition in the state assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, launched a scathing attack on the Left Front and Trinamool Congress governments in the state in a post shared on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday.
In his post, Suvendu Adhikari said that 48 years of plunder and misgovernance have ruined the future of West Bengal's youth. He claimed that in 1960, West Bengal ranked third in the country in terms of per capita income, but today it has fallen to 24th place. According to him, the state's per capita income has dropped 16 percent below the national average.
The BJP leader alleged that industries have fled the state, factories have closed down, employment opportunities have vanished, and the dreams of the youth have been shattered. He held the Left Front and Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress government responsible for this situation.
In his message, Suvendu Adhikari said, Enough is enough. Now is the time for real change. He claimed that the BJP will once again lead West Bengal on the path of industrial development, job creation, and prosperity.
He also stated that the BJP is committed to reviving the state's glorious past and will provide a new model of development for Bengal in the coming years.
