
Golaghat (Assam), 31 December (HS): An innocent passerby was killed during a violent gang clash involving drug-addicted youths in Golaghat, triggering panic in the area, police informed on Wednesday.
According to sources, a clash erupted between two groups comprising around 20 to 25 youths. Amid the chaos, Mrinmoy Hazarika, who was passing through the area, was caught in the violence and sustained fatal injuries, leading to his death.
In the incident, Asik Rizwan and senior advocate Durgaprasad Jaiswal were also seriously injured. They were rushed to a nearby hospital, where their condition is stated to be critical.
Police reached the spot soon after the incident and launched an investigation to identify those involved in the gang war. Further details are awaited.
