
Srinagar, 31 December (H.S.): The Wildlife Department rescued a female leopard cub, approximately 4-5 months old, from Sarna Teri village in Sarna Panchayat of Samba district.
According to reports, the leopard cub’s leg was caught in a ground trap in the village forest, preventing it from escaping. Local residents informed the Wildlife Department officials.
The department officials acted promptly, and a rescue team reached the spot. Taking all necessary precautions, they successfully rescued the female leopard cub. The operation was led by Sanjeev Bogia, Range Officer of the Surinsar-Mansar-Jasrota Wildlife Sanctuary, under the supervision of Vijay Kumar, Wildlife Warden, Kathua.
Range Officer Sanjeev stated that after the rescue operation, the leopard cub was safely transported to the rescue center at Manda Zoo for further medical examination and treatment. The leopard is currently safe and healthy and under the care of the Wildlife Department, he added.
