Malda, 3 December (H.S.): The primary phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process of the electoral rolls in West Bengal is scheduled to conclude on December 11th, and the draft voter list will be published on December 16th.
However, before this, the state government has decided to organize block-level assistance camps to assist voters whose names are at risk of being removed from the list. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee made the announcement at a public meeting in Gajol, Malda district, on Wednesday.
Mamata Banerjee said, From December 12th, there will be a May I Help You camp in every block. Those who need certificates or documents can go there and collect them.
She instructed Trinamool Congress workers to fully participate in this process and help people.
Those likely to be removed from the Khasra list have already been identified.
According to sources in the government and the organization, the party has information based on a survey report conducted by a consulting firm about which names may be removed from the draft list.
The organization has already prepared the documents required for the inclusion of names. Government-level camps will begin on December 12th to garner the administration's support in this endeavor.
From Malda, a minority-dominated district, Mamata Banerjee assured the people that detention camps would not be allowed to be set up in the state under any circumstances.
Her next Programme is in Murshidabad on Thursday.
Mamata alleged that Union Home Minister Amit Shah had given instructions to harass people during the SIR process. She also sarcastically targeted the BJP, calling them charpokas (bedbugs), and said, These chaarpokas must be defeated democratically.
