Varanasi, 3 Dec (HS): On Wednesday, the second day of
the Kashi-Tamil Sangamam being held in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, students from
Tamil Nadu bathed in the sacred Ganges River at Hanuman Ghat, and sought
blessings for happiness and prosperity. After bathing in the Ganges, all Tamil
guests visited and worshipped at the ancient temples located on the ghat. All
guests were informed about the divinity, grandeur, and history of Tamil
temples.
A group of students from Tamil Nadu reached Hanuman Ghat
today and earned merit by bathing in the Ganga. The teachers told the students
in detail about the history of various ghats of Ganga. After this, the Tamil
guests went to the house of great poet Subrahmanya Bharati at Hanuman Ghat.
They met his family members there. The group of students showed a lot of
curiosity to know more. The students also visited the library near the house of
great poet Subrahmanya Bharati and gathered a lot of information about it.
After this, the group of students reached Kanchi Math and gathered information
about its history. The group of youth looked excited after seeing the South
Indian temple in Kashi.
Pandit Venkat Raman Ghanpathi, associated with the Shri Kashi
Vishwanath Temple Trust, said that Kashi and Tamil Nadu have a very deep
relationship and this gathering is not just fortnight old but centuries old.
Mini Tamil Nadu resides at Hanuman Ghat, Kedar Ghat, and Harishchandra Ghat in
Kashi. Here not just one or two but thousands of families from different states
of South India live, which reflects the sweet relationship between these two states.
At Hanuman Ghat alone, more than 150 houses belong to Tamil families, in whose
streets Kashi-Tamil Sangamam takes place every day.
