
Kolkata, 3 December (H.S.): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday shared progress information on the state government's ambitious health initiative, 'Swasthya Bandhu' (Mobile Medical Unit) scheme, on Twitter. She said that the scheme was launched on November 11, 2025, and has received overwhelmingly positive response from the public since then.
According to the Chief Minister, 110 mobile medical units have been deployed under the scheme, with another 100 units joining soon. These mobile units are providing free health services to those in need in rural and urban areas.
Mamata Banerjee proudly stated that the number of people attending these camps has crossed the 100,000 mark in just 20 days since the scheme's launch. She said, Hundreds of needy people are coming to these camps and receiving essential medical services like lab tests, ECGs, and USGs completely free of charge. This has brought great relief, especially to the elderly and women.
The state government has organized 1,027 camps so far, with women and the elderly being the largest beneficiaries. The Chief Minister described this as another pro-people and people-friendly initiative by the government.
