Imphal, 03 December (HS): Security forces in Manipur, currently under President’s Rule and grappling with ongoing unrest, continued their crackdown on illegal weaponry on Wednesday. Acting on specific intelligence, the BSF’s Mizoram–Cachar Frontier along with Manipur Police conducted a joint operation in Imphal West district, leading to a major recovery of arms and explosives.

According to officials, the teams seized a significant cache that included three rifles, two pistols, one hand grenade, ten cartridges, four walkie-talkies, and a sizable quantity of assorted live ammunition. The recovered arms are suspected to belong to a militant organisation.

Security agencies said such operations will continue as part of efforts to restore stability in the violence-affected state.
