Kolkata, 3 December (H.S.): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday paid tribute to the heroic freedom fighter, on his birth anniversary. In her message on X (formerly Twitter), she wrote that Khudiram Bose's courage, patriotism, and spirit of self-sacrifice continue to inspire everyone.

The Chief Minister said that the state government has undertaken numerous initiatives to preserve Khudiram Bose's memory and develop his birthplace, Mahabani, and the surrounding areas. The Mahabani Development Authority has been established for this purpose.

She said that a statue of martyr Khudiram has been installed in Mahabani, the local library has been renovated, a grand new auditorium, a conference hall, an open air stage, and modern cottages for visitors have been constructed. Furthermore, the historic Khudiram Park has been redeveloped, and the entire area has been decorated with attractive lighting.

Mamata Banerjee further stated that a metro station in Kolkata has also been named in honor of Khudiram Bose, symbolizing the perpetuation of his memory.

Concluding her message, the Chief Minister referred to the patriotic song Ek Baar Vidai Dao Ma and said that even today, this song strengthens the spirit of self-sacrifice and homage to the martyrs.
