Lucknow, 3 Dec (HS): The Uttar Pradesh government has launched a huge
crackdown on alleged Rohingya and Bangladeshi infiltrators across the state,
with orders issued to create detention camps in every division, a top official
said here on Wednesday. According to the source, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath
has directed 17 urban local bodies to compile complete names of illegal
immigrants within their territories.
These lists will be sent to
the relevant Commissioners and Inspectors General for further review. In the first phase of the action plan,
Commissioners and IGs were told to establish specific detention facilities to
house persons identified throughout the verification process.
The chief minister has also instructed that detention facilities be created in
each division of the state, according to the official.
The administrative apparatus has taken action in accordance
with the chief minister's directives. The official stated that verification,
documentation, and field inspections had already begun in various areas. On
November 22, Adityanath gave unambiguous orders to all district magistrates in
the state to take immediate and stern action against illegal immigrants, as
well as to create temporary detention camps in each district to detain
infiltrators.
The chief minister stated that law and order, national
security, and social peace are major priority, and that no criminal behaviour
would be permitted. According to officials, illegal immigrants with foreign
citizenship would be kept in these facilities and held there until the
verification procedure is finished.
Adityanath stated that
illegal immigrants housed in detention centers will be deported to their home
countries in accordance with existing processes. Uttar Pradesh has an open
border with Nepal, enabling people of both nations to travel freely, although
other nationalities are subject to inspections.
