Kolkata, 3 December (H.S.):
IIT Kharagpur’s Platinum Jubilee Global Outreach Program opened its US chapter on an impactful note as Director Prof. Suman Chakraborty began a series of high-level meetings aimed at strengthening global partnerships. The visit, conceptualised by distinguished alumnus Dr. Partha Ghosh, set the tone for a transformative international roadmap.
Prof. Chakraborty’s first stop was Tufts University, where he met President Dr. Sunil Kumar and senior leadership to outline a long-term collaboration in engineering education, leadership development, and joint research initiatives. The discussions focused on creating a deeper academic interface and exploring a possible joint centre in key global domains.
At Bentley University, conversations centred on emerging fields such as financial technologies, human factors engineering and interdisciplinary programs bridging tech, business and design. A proposal for a “Bridge Program” offering IIT Kharagpur graduates access to an exclusive Dual Degree Plus pathway at Bentley emerged as a promising new opportunity.
The day concluded with a lively Alumni Gala Dinner, attended by nearly 30 alumni couples. Prof. Chakraborty honoured two alumni with Distinguished Alumni recognitions, celebrating their contributions to the institute and society. The interactions saw strong expressions of support and optimism for IIT Kharagpur’s future vision.
