Sonbhadra, 3 Dec (HS): Police arrested a youth late
Tuesday night in Robertsganj, Sonbhadra district, Uttar Pradesh. Christian
books and other items were recovered from him. Meanwhile, the accused's wife
fled the scene, and a police team began searching for her. Circle Officer
Randhir Mishra stated on Wednesday that Shivam Singh Rajput, a district
minister of the BJP Yuva Morcha and a resident of Ward No. 16 of the
Robertsganj Municipal Corporation, filed a complaint with the police. He stated
that he received information that on Tuesday night, some people from outside
had gathered locals at the home of Rama Pal, a resident of the ward, and were
encouraging them to convert to Christianity by offering them money and other
inducements.
Upon learning of this, he arrived at the scene and found
conversion-related materials, including crosses and Bibles. Ramu and his wife
were praying and encouraging people to convert. When he objected, the people
conducting the conversions pushed the women forward. Seeing the situation, he
informed the police. Upon arriving at the scene, the police arrested the
accused Ramu, while his wife, Rinki, is absconding.
