Srinagar, 3 December (H.S.): Director Tourism, Jammu, Dr. Vikas Gupta, today chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the preparedness for the upcoming events being organised by the Directorate, including the Jammu Marathon and the Winter Carnival.
The Jammu Marathon is aimed at promoting fitness, wellness, and community participation while further strengthening Jammu’s profile as an emerging sports tourism destination.
During the meeting, the Joint Director Tourism, Ajaz Qaiser, delivered a detailed presentation covering the event modalities and execution plan. Director Tourism reviewed all aspects of the presentation and issued necessary directions to officers to ensure seamless coordination, timely preparedness, and effective inter-departmental engagement for the successful conduct of the events.
All the CEOs of the Development Authorities and officers of the Directorate attended the meeting and shared updates on their respective responsibilities related to the upcoming events.
In addition, the Director Tourism conducted a separate review of the developmental works under the Capex Budget for Samba, Kathua, and outsourcing of assets of Poonch district. The meeting focused on sector-wise physical and financial progress, ongoing works, and bottlenecks affecting timelines.
Dr. Gupta emphasized the need for strict monitoring, quality assurance, and adherence to deadlines, directing the concerned Executive Engineers to ensure timely execution and completion of all sanctioned projects.
The Directorate reaffirmed its commitment to the smooth conduct of forthcoming tourism events and the timely creation of quality tourism infrastructure across the region.
