New Delhi, 3 December (H.S.): The Bharatiya Janata Party claimed a strong victory in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) by-elections on Wednesday, winning seven out of 12 contested wards, while the Aam Aadmi Party secured three, Congress one, and an independent candidate the remaining seat.

Polling occurred on November 30 across wards previously held mostly by BJP (nine) and AAP (three), with voter turnout at 38.51 percent—lower than the 50.47 percent in the 2022 MCD elections.

BJP candidates triumphed in key areas including Shalimar Bagh B (Anita Jain), Dwarka B (Manisha Devi), Vinod Nagar (Sarla Choudhry), and others like Ashok Vihar, Greater Kailash, Dichaon Kalan, and Chandni Chowk, consolidating their position in the 250-member MCD house.

AAP's wins came in Naraina (Rajan Arora), Mundka (Anil), and Dakshin Puri (Ram Swaroop Kanojia), with Congress' Suresh Choudhry taking Sangam Vihar and AIFB's Mohd. Imran claiming Chandni Mahal.
