Chennai, 3 December (H.S.) : TVK President and actor Vijay has sharply criticized the ruling DMK-led State government in Tamil Nadu, alleging that the struggles faced by the public during recent continuous rains are evidence of the government's indifference to their well-being.
In a statement released on December 3, Vijay claimed that the daily lives of people across the state, including in Chennai, have been severely impacted due to the wet weather, placing the blame squarely on the government's inadequate and incomplete implementation of crucial drainage projects.
The actor-politician charged that despite the allocation of funds for the creation of storm water drains, the government has failed to execute the works even after four-and-a-half years in power. He argued that if the government had shown even the slightest concern for the people, water stagnation would not be occurring even with moderate rainfall.
Vijay called upon the State government to immediately take steps to drain out stagnant water to protect citizens during the remaining monsoon season. Furthermore, he directed his party functionaries to extend necessary assistance to those affected by the rains, while also urging the public to remain cautious and prioritize their safety.
