
Ramban, 25 December (H.S.): Youth Congress workers here today organised a convention in Banihal which was followed by a protest demonstration against Omar Abdullah-led government.
The protesters claimed that Omar-led government has failed to fulfil electoral promises and address key public issues. The convention was attended by former MLA Banihal, Waqar Rasool Wani, Youth Congress J&K In-charge and National general secretary; Maan Singh Rathore, general secretary and co-incharge J&K; Harmeet Kour Brar along with a large number of Youth Congress workers from the region.
After the convention, Youth Congress activists marched through Banihal town and staged a protest.
They burnt the effigy of CM Omar Abdullah and raised slogans against his government.
Addressing the gathering, Youth Congress leaders and workers said that issues like rising unemployment, increasing inflation and high electricity bills have placed a heavy burden on the common man.
They warned that if the government does not take concrete steps to address these concerns, the Youth Congress would intensify its protests in coming days.
