Jammu, 25 December (H.S.): The Women and Youth Wing of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Sangharsh Samiti today staged a massive protest outside the residence of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board member Ashok Bhan.
The demonstrators expressed strong resentment, alleging that during a recent conversation with the core committee members of the Sangharsh Samiti, Ashok Bhan not only behaved in an undignified and disrespectful manner but also arrogantly challenged the committee, claiming that “no one can harm him” and that “the admission decision will not be changed, no matter what anyone does.”
The Samiti representatives stated that such arrogant and autocratic remarks coming from a person holding a responsible constitutional position forced the workers to take to the streets in protest.
The committee alleged that for nearly two decades, the sacred funds offered by devotees are being misused for purposes that primarily fall under the purview of the State Government – such as the construction of hospitals, universities, nursing and medical colleges, and roads. “The Samiti strongly believes that the offerings made at Maa Vaishno Devi’s shrine must be used solely for the promotion of Sanatan Dharma and religious service activities,” they said.
During the protest, the Samiti demanded immediate resolution of the MBBS admission related issue and warned the Shrine Board members to behave positively. The committee members announced that they would stage sit-ins outside the residences of all the Board members, one by one, and if the grievances remain unaddressed, they would publicly expose the alleged wrongdoings of the Board members.
A number of activists from the Women and Youth Wings participated in today’s demonstration, raising slogans against the Shrine Board administration and making it clear that they were fully prepared to go to any extent to defend their honour, dignity of Sanatan Dharma, and the rights of the students.
