Baghpat,
25 Dec (HS): On Thursday, a 20-year-old lady was shot dead by a guy who
subsequently committed suicide in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, in what seems to be
an unrequited love case, officials said. The incident occurred in Mahavatpur
Bawli village, Badaut district, where the accused, Satnam, 22, reportedly shot
the woman before hanging himself from a tree, according to reports. Suraj Kumar
Rai, Superintendent of Police, said preliminary results indicate the event was
related to unrequited love, and that all elements of the case are being
investigated. According to authorities, the dead lady, Guddan, was Lakhmi
Saini's daughter and worked as a tailor from home. Satnam, a rural inhabitant,
allegedly had a one-sided passion for her for a long time and was urging her to
marry him.
According
to police, Guddan left her house at 10.30 a.m. to go shopping when Satnam, who
was already waiting in a back alley, stopped her. An altercation occurred, and
he reportedly shot her in the head with a country-made handgun. The woman fell
on the scene, sustaining significant injuries. The accused then returned to his
home and committed himself by hanging himself from a tree, authorities said. After
obtaining information, police raced to the scene and transported the injured
woman to a community health center, where physicians proclaimed her dead. A
forensic team discovered the weapon used in the crime from the location, they
said. Police have sent both remains for post-mortem examinations and launched
an investigation, they added.
