Chennai, 22 December (H.S.) : Pattali Makkal Katchi founder Dr. S. Ramadoss has announced that the party's special executive committee and general council meetings will be held on December 29 in Salem.
This significant gathering is expected to focus on the party's internal development and strategic preparations for the 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly elections. The announcement comes at a time of visible leadership transition and internal disputes within the party, as both the founder and his son, Anbumani Ramadoss, have been involved in a legal and political tussle over the presidency and the use of the party's symbols.
The upcoming meeting in Salem is anticipated to be a crucial platform for the senior leader to consolidate his influence among the party cadre. According to party sources, invitations have been extended to office bearers from across the state to attend the sessions, which will start with the executive committee meeting in the morning followed by the general council.
The discussions are likely to address the ongoing organizational work and the challenges posed by the current political scenario in the state. Authorities within the party are working to ensure a smooth conduct of the event, given the heightened tensions between different factions.
This move follows recent legal developments where the Delhi High Court weighed in on the leadership dispute, providing certain temporary clarifications regarding the presidential term. Dr. Ramadoss has emphasized the importance of social justice and the need for a comprehensive caste based census, which remain central themes for the party's agenda.
The senior leader has also urged the cadre to remain focused on grassroots mobilization to strengthen the party's position before the polls. The outcome of the Salem meeting is expected to set the future course for the PMK as it navigates through this period of internal administrative transition.
