Oppn creates ruckus in Assembly over codeine cough syrup

Lucknow,

22 Dec (HS): Before the assembly

session began, Samajwadi Party MLAs created a ruckus over the Codeine cough

syrup issue. Sitting near the statue of Chaudhary Charan Singh in the assembly,

SP members created a ruckus. They raised slogans. Along with this, the demand

for equal pay for equal work and facilities for doctors was raised. SP MLA from

Mainpuri said that the condition of hospitals here is bad. Doctors are living

in places where even animals do not live. Their houses have neither been

painted nor repaired. SP raised the issue of NOCH in the assembly. The issue of

equal pay for equal work was also raised. Demand was made to remove salary

discrepancies.

Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak responded to the SP's

questions: In response, Brajesh Pathak stated that there are no problems at any

hospital. Medicines are available at every center. 18 types of medications and

numerous tests are available. He added that Uttar Pradesh ranks number one in

the country for treatment through Ayushman. ICU facilities are available in

district hospitals.

What did the government say on codeine? Finance

Minister Suresh Khanna dismissed the opposition's allegations, stating that not

a single death has occurred in Uttar Pradesh due to codeine. He assured the

opposition that the government is serious about the matter. Meanwhile, the

Samajwadi Party alleges that the government is protecting the mafia. SP MLA

Atul Pradhan said, The government is trying to protect such mafias. Now

the driver of their bulldozer has fallen asleep. This is a very serious matter

and action must be taken.

BJP's strong counterattack on the opposition: State

Minister Asim Arun hit back at the SP, saying, It's clear which party's

members are involved in this cough syrup scandal. They're protesting today to

hide their crimes. Minister OP Rajbhar said that a discussion on

development and Vande Mataram is essential. The House is the center of

discussion. Vande Mataram is completing 150 years. The discussion will be about

how people can learn about it. The opposition opposes everything; money is

needed for development, which is why a supplementary budget is being presented.

Meanwhile, SP MLA Zahid Beg said that there is no opposition to Vande Mataram.

But BJP members were not involved in the freedom struggle.

SP raises questions about health services: The

SP leader, raising questions about health services, said that arbitrariness

continues in hospitals. Government doctors prescribe outside medicines. In such

a situation, how can the poor get treatment? MRI machines are not working in

any government hospital. Exorbitant fees are being charged for tests.

Private hospitals extort money by keeping dead

bodies: There are no regulations on MRIs and ultrasounds. Doctors in private

hospitals often extort money by keeping dead bodies. Then they hand over the

bodies.

Action should be taken against the accused in

the codeine syrup case - Mata Prasad Pandey

Samajwadi Party leader Mata Prasad Pandey

demanded action against the accused in the codeine syrup case. He demanded that

the government respond to this matter. If SP workers are accused, action should

be taken against them as well. In response, Parliamentary Affairs Minister

Suresh Khanna stated that no deaths have occurred in Uttar Pradesh due to

codeine syrup. The government will provide a full response.

Information will be provided about the Shri

Banke Bihari Ji Temple Trust Bill, 2025: Legislative Assembly Principal Secretary

Pradeep Dubey will present information about the Shri Banke Bihari Ji Temple

Trust Bill, 2025 in both houses. It has already been passed by both houses of

the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council. After receiving

the Governor's approval, it has been notified as an Act. The law aims to ensure

better administration, transparency, and improved facilities for devotees while

maintaining the temple's religious traditions.

The purpose of the supplementary grant will be

discussed – Mata Prasad Pandey

Samajwadi Party leader Mata Prasad Pandey, who

reached the House, said that the government has the right. The Constitution

provides for supplementary grants. The discussion will focus on the purpose for

which these supplementary grants are being sought.

Give answers politely and based on facts - CM:

Earlier in the meeting held on Sunday, the CM told the ministers and MLAs that

even the false allegations of the opposition should be answered politely and

based on facts. Supplementary demands for grants will be presented in both the

houses on Monday. All the MLAs should ensure their presence in the house on

this occasion. The government has decided to hold a special discussion in the

assembly on the completion of 150 years of Vande Mataram. All the MLAs should

be present in the house at this time also.

The BJP has also devised a strong strategy to

counter the opposition's attacks in both houses of the Uttar Pradesh

Legislative Assembly during the winter session. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath,

during the BJP Legislature Party meeting held at Lok Bhavan on Sunday, asked

all ministers and MLAs to come to the houses fully prepared to answer the

opposition's questions. He said that ministers should be fully prepared to

answer every question of the opposition in both houses with full force.
