Kolkata, 2 December (H.S.):
During the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign, the Election Commission has identified 2,208 booths in West Bengal where not a single dead, duplicate, or transferred voter's name was registered. This figure is as of Monday evening.
According to an official from the Chief Electoral Officer's office, the highest number of such booths were found in South 24 Parganas district, with 760. Purulia is in second place, with 228 such booths. Minority-dominated Murshidabad and Malda districts are in third and fourth place, with 226 and 216, respectively.
Furthermore, 582 booths across the state have been found where only one case of a dead voter, duplicate voter, or transferred voter has been reported. Two such cases have been identified at 420 booths.
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party has expressed serious doubts about this entire matter. They said that finding booths with zero errors on such a large scale is suspicious.
Kolkata Municipal Corporation councillor and BJP leader Sajal Ghosh said that this data does not seem reliable. The registration forms collected from these booths should be immediately reviewed.
Notably, Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, has also called the inclusion of 1.25 crore names in the voter list suspicious and has demanded an audit.
