Nadia, 2 December (H.S.): Political turmoil is already raging in West Bengal over the SIR. Meanwhile, a large number of voter ID cards were recovered from a drain in Pratapnagar Hospital Road area of Navadwip in Nadia district, causing a stir. On information, the police from Navadwip police station arrived at the scene and seized all the cards.

On Tuesday, police sources said that they contacted the individuals concerned based on the names on the cards. Surprisingly, all the individuals stated that their original voter ID cards were kept safe at home. This raises the question: whose cards were found in the drain? Are these fake or duplicate cards? Serious suspicions have arisen.

Local residents immediately alerted the police after seeing several voter cards lying in the drain. According to locals, the names and addresses on the cards match those of people living nearby, but the original cards in their homes are also valid. This deepens the mystery surrounding the entire matter.

Local BJP leaders claimed that irregularities had been repeatedly suspected during the SIR process, and the discovery of so many cards in the drain was proof of that. They alleged that the Trinamool Congress was afraid of the SIR and was trying to gain political advantage through rigging.

Rejecting the BJP's allegations, Jhantulal Das, councilor of Ward No. 5 of Navadwip Municipality, said, Trinamool has no role in this incident. This is a conspiracy by the BJP. The Election Commission must investigate the entire matter.

Pratapnagar Hospital Road is a very busy and important area of Navadwip. The discovery of so many voter cards at such a location has become a matter of concern for both the local administration and the Election Commission.

The police are investigating who threw these cards there and for what purpose. The matter is gaining momentum at both the political and administrative levels.
