Bareilly, 2 Dec (HS): A 22-year-old male has been

sentenced to life in jail after raping a nine-year-old child in the district's

Aliganj neighborhood earlier this year, officials said on Tuesday. Devasheesh

Pandey, a Special Judge under the POCSO Act, convicted Pradeep on Monday and

sentenced him to life in jail and a Rs 2,000 fine.

According to the

prosecution, the crime occurred on January 30, 2025, when the defendant brought

the youngster to his rooftop under the pretense of displaying her mobile phone

and then raped her. The youngster returned home weeping and became unconscious.

She was transported to the hospital, where physicians verified the sexual

assault. Her testimony prompted the filing of a complaint under the appropriate

sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the POCSO Act.
