On Tuesday, Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik announced that the tendering process for Mumbai Metro Line 10 is set to begin by December 15. The fully elevated 9.718-km corridor, costing an estimated Rs 8,000 crore, will encompass five stations: Gaimukh Reti Bandar, Chena Village, Varsava Village, Kashimira, and Miragaon.
Designated as the green line, it is projected to serve approximately 4.66 lakh passengers daily by 2031.The corridor will provide convenient interchange connectivity with Metro Line 4A at Gaimukh and Metro Line 9 at Miragaon, enhancing commuter transit between Thane and Mumbai. A depot has been proposed at Mogra Pada (ML-4 Depot).
Systra-DB JV is appointed as the general consultant, actively working to obtain essential clearances concerning forest, Coastal Regulation Zone, mangroves, wildlife, and eco-sensitive zones.Minister Sarnaik expressed confidence that this project will markedly improve connectivity for the Mira-Bhayandar region by offering faster, modern, and environmentally friendly transportation once completed by 2030.
Additionally, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Pod Taxi project—a driverless, electric Personal Rapid Transit linking Thane, Mira-Bhayandar, and Navi Mumbai—is expected within six months. This innovative system aims to provide last-mile connectivity and reduce congestion, especially in high-traffic corridors like Bandra-Kurla Complex.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has emphasized the role of pod taxis in easing the burden on Mumbai’s public transport infrastructure and complementing upcoming infastructural developments.
