Dima Hasao (Assam), 02 December (HS): A militant has killed in an exchange of fire between police and insurgents at Jinam Valley along the Cachar–Dima Hasao border on Monday late night, police informed today. The deceased insurgent has been identified as Modi Mar from the Baraorkap area.
The encounter reportedly took place after midnight in the border region. According to information received, the slain militant was a member of the HPC(D). The clash occurred when he allegedly threatened a vehicle driver at gunpoint and demanded money. The militant had also fired two rounds while attempting to extort the driver.
On receiving information, police from Dima Hasao district reached the spot, following which the encounter took place. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.--------
