
Guwahati, 02 December (HS): On the occasion of Asom Divas, Lok Bhavan Assam, in collaboration with the Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Assam, organised a special health camp at Uzan Bazar on Tuesday, dedicated to the vision of a “TB Mukt Bharat”. The initiative was held under the leadership of Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya.
Aligned with the Prime Minister’s call for a tuberculosis-free India, the camp was conducted as part of the “Lok Bhavan se Lok Seva ki Ore” campaign, aimed at promoting public welfare. A Mobile Medical Unit was deployed to offer TB screening, medical consultation, and awareness on prevention and early detection.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Acharya said that Raj Bhavan has now become Lok Bhavan, symbolising service to the people and their development. Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said they are committed to contributing to a healthy and Viksit Bharat. He urged citizens to utilise available healthcare services and contribute to nation-building through improved community health.
The Governor further highlighted national initiatives on tuberculosis elimination and noted that Assam, under Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, has been strengthening state-wide TB eradication efforts.
Reaffirming the collective mission, the Governor emphasised moving from “TB Mukt Gaon” to “TB Mukt Rajya”, ultimately achieving a “TB Mukt Bharat”. The event concluded with a renewed commitment to community health empowerment and expanded access to healthcare.
A total of 203 patients were screened across departments including Dental, ENT, Medicine, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology and others.
Director of Health Services Dr. Umesh Phangsu, DDC Kamrup (M) Parijat Bhuyan and other health officials were also present.----------
