Darrang (Assam), 02 December (HS): A shooting incident in Karupetia under Darrang district triggered widespread sensation on Monday night after a youth sustained serious bullet injuries. The injured has been identified as Munna Saha.

According to police, the firing reportedly stemmed from a dispute over money between Munna Saha and a local businessman, Ananta Biswas. The argument broke out inside Biswas’s jewellery shop, where the shooting also took place. Munna Saha had allegedly lent money at interest to Ananta Biswas, which led to the altercation.

Soon after the firing, a police team rushed to the spot. The injured youth was immediately shifted to GMCH in critical condition. Police recovered a 9mm pistol along with two live rounds from the crime scene.

Meanwhile, businessman Ananta Biswas has been detained in connection with the incident and further investigation is underway.--------
