New Delhi, 2 December (H.S.):

To enhance student safety across the national capital, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday formally launched the Disaster Ready Schools Campaign covering 2,082 schools in the city. The initiative aims to ensure every school in Delhi is fully equipped to respond effectively in case of emergencies or natural disasters. Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena and Minister Ashish Sood were also present at the launch ceremony.

Chief Minister Gupta said the campaign will be expanded to include all schools in the capital so that every student, teacher, and institution can be prepared for any eventuality. Under the initiative, each school will formulate its own disaster management plan and conduct regular mock drills to train students in maintaining calm and taking appropriate action during emergencies.

Dedicated school teams will undergo special training to provide immediate response and potentially save lives during real crises. The campaign is being implemented jointly by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), and the Department of Education to ensure that no school in Delhi lags behind in preparedness and safety.

Minister Ashish Sood stated that, through coordinated efforts between NDMA, DDMA, and the Education Department, the campaign will soon cover over 5,500 schools. He added that the effort will help create a safer, more resilient, and better-prepared future for every child in Delhi. Senior officials from NDMA and DDMA were also present at the event.
