
Lucknow, 2 Dec (HS): According
to an official announcement, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will jointly open the fourth
edition of the Kashi-Tamil Sangamam (KTS 4.0) in Varanasi on December 2. The
festival renews the centuries-old bond between Kashi and Tamil Nadu,
encouraging profound learning, pilgrimage, and artistic and scholarly
interaction.
Senior leaders, including Tamil
Nadu Governor RN Ravi and Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry K Kailashnathan,
Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Brajesh Pathak, and Union Minister of
State for Information and Broadcasting and Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs L
Murugan, will attend the opening ceremony, emphasizing the Sangamam's growing
national significance as a bridge between northern and southern India,
according to a statement.
Delegates from Tamil Nadu will explore Kashi's cultural, educational, and
spiritual landscape. The itinerary includes trips to universities, heritage
sites, craft clusters, temples, and knowledge institutions, as well as
exchanges with professors, students, and members of the local community. The
Ministry of Education is organising the fourth edition of KTS, which will be
attended by 10 Union ministries, including Railways, Culture, Tourism,
Textiles, Youth Affairs, and Sports, as well as the Uttar Pradesh government.
IIT Madras and BHU are this edition's knowledge partners. According to the
announcement, the 2025 edition of the Kashi Tamil Sangamam will focus on the
topic 'Learn Tamil-Tamil Karkalam', with the goal of boosting Tamil study
throughout India and developing respect for the country's traditional
linguistic and literary legacy.
More than 1,400 Tamil Nadu delegates, including students, teachers, writers
and media professionals, agriculture and allied sectors, professionals and
artisans, women, and spiritual scholars and practitioners, will embark on an
eight-day experiential tour of Varanasi, Prayagraj, and Ayodhya, according to
the statement.
