Guwahati, 02 December (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday paid rich tributes to Swargadeo Chaolung Sukapha on the occasion of Assam Day, recalling his unparalleled contribution in laying the foundation of the Assamese nation.

In a message, the Chief Minister said that Sukapha, after establishing the Ahom kingdom in Assam, shaped the identity and unity of the Assamese people. He noted that Sukapha not only infused vitality into the land of Assam but also elevated the Assamese nation through his able leadership, judicious thinking and farsighted decisions.

Dr. Sarma further stated that the state government has undertaken several initiatives to immortalize Sukapha’s legacy and affirm that more efforts will be made in the future to honour his memory.----------
