Bhubaneswar, 2 December (H.S.): In a significant move to enhance public safety, Housing & Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra informed the Odisha Assembly on Tuesday that all unsafe buildings within Cuttack city will be demolished.
The Minister, in response to a written question in the House, stated that a special committee has been formed to identify structurally unsafe buildings falling under the jurisdiction of the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC). The committee is currently conducting extensive surveys across all CMC wards to assess building conditions and structural stability.
Mahapatra further said that once the survey is completed, the government will take appropriate action in accordance with legal procedures. Buildings declared unsafe will first be issued formal notices, and if found necessary, will be demolished to safeguard public safety and prevent potential hazards.
The government’s move aims to minimize risks posed by aging or structurally compromised buildings and ensure a safer living environment for residents of Cuttack.
