New Delhi, 17 December (H.S.): India's Ministry of External Affairs summoned Bangladesh High Commissioner Mohammad Rizwan Hamidullah on Wednesday, conveying profound apprehensions regarding the deteriorating security environment in Dhaka and urging the interim government to uphold its diplomatic obligations by safeguarding missions and embassies.

Officials drew the envoy's attention to specific extremist elements announcing plans to foment insecurity around the Indian High Commission in Dhaka, emphasizing the imperative for robust protective measures.

The MEA statement categorically repudiated false narratives propagated by these extremists concerning recent incidents in Bangladesh, lamenting the interim regime's failure to conduct thorough probes or share substantive evidence with India.

Reaffirming India's close and amicable bonds with the Bangladeshi populace, the ministry underscored its steadfast support for peace and stability, consistently advocating free, fair, inclusive, and credible elections in a tranquil setting.
