Delhi, 13 December (H.S.): Leaders from across political parties, including the Congress, paid solemn tributes on Saturday to the brave security personnel who sacrificed their lives defending the Parliament during the terrorist attack of December 13, 2001.On that day, five terrorists belonging to Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba launched an assault on the Parliament complex. The swift and courageous response of Indian security forces thwarted the terrorists’ plan, eliminating all five attackers.

In the exchange, five Delhi Police personnel, one woman constable, and two security guards laid down their lives to protect the seat of Indian democracy. Their sacrifice remains a lasting symbol of the nation’s unwavering commitment to the fight against terrorism.

The Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge paid floral tributes to the martyrs, recalling their unmatched courage and sacrifice. “Their indomitable valor and dedication are eternally etched in the nation’s memory. India stands united and resolute against terrorism,” he said.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath described the attack as a “heinous assault on the sovereignty and spirit of Indian democracy,” paying homage to the immortal heroes who laid down their lives defending the sanctity of Parliament.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami noted that the supreme sacrifice of the soldiers for the security of the nation would forever serve as a source of inspiration for all countrymen.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also paid rich tributes, saying, “The sacrifice of brave sons who laid down their lives in defense of Parliament reflects their unwavering resolve to safeguard India’s democratic soul. Their spirit will continue to inspire future generations.”

The anniversary serves as a solemn reminder of the courage, discipline, and dedication displayed by those who stood as the first line of defense during one of the darkest moments in India’s democratic history.
