Scindia Unveils Special Postage Stamp Celebrating Bombay Gymkhana's 150-Year Sporting Milestone

New Delhi/Mumbai 13 December (H.S.): Union Minister for Communications Jyotiraditya M. Scindia unveiled a commemorative postage stamp on Saturday to mark the 150th anniversary of the Bombay Gymkhana, honoring its storied legacy in Indian sports and culture. The event took place at the iconic Mumbai club in the presence of Rajya Sabha MP Milind Deora, Gymkhana President Sanjiv Saran Mehra, and Postmaster General Suchita Joshi.

Established in 1875, the Bombay Gymkhana has nurtured generations of athletes and served as a vibrant hub for sportsmanship and community engagement over its century-and-a-half journey. The stamp artistically captures the club's distinguished campus and grounds, symbolizing its pivotal role in India's sporting heritage.

Addressing the gathering, Scindia described the stamp as a travelling messenger that would inspire young people to embrace sports and recognize the transformative power of such institutions. He drew parallels between India Post and the Gymkhana, both dedicated to connecting generations and conveying shared values.

Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision, Scindia noted, the Department of Posts is undergoing a profound transformation to become the world's largest inclusive logistics network within five years. The stamp, available at philatelic bureaux and online via www.epostoffice.gov.in, underscores philately's role in preserving India's sporting milestones.

Scindia shared personal reflections on X, calling the Gymkhana a place close to my heart where he grew up embracing sport's values and traditions.
