Delhi, 11 December (H.S.): Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijendra Gupta on Thursday said that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has been working for the upliftment of society and the nation for the past 100 years with sacrifice, discipline and dedication. He stated that the Sangh’s journey has advanced through service and commitment, and “we should all be proud of this legacy of the RSS.”

Gupta was speaking at a programme on “Social–Cultural Consciousness and the RSS” held at the Samvet Auditorium of the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA).

The event was organised by the Hindusthan Samachar Group to mark the centenary year of the RSS. The programme aimed to awaken social and cultural consciousness across the country and present the Sangh’s contributions before the public.

During the event, two special editions of Hindusthan Samachar Group’s magazines were released — the Navotthan Monthly edition titled “Sangh Centenary: New Horizons”, and the Yugwarta special issue “Neenv Ke Patthar”, which contains short biographies of 105 RSS pracharaks. The Navotthan volume highlights cultural consciousness related to the Sangh’s centenary, while the Yugwarta edition documents the contributions of long-serving volunteers.

The programme was attended by Chief Guest and Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijendra Gupta, keynote speaker Indresh Kumar of the RSS All India Executive, and special guest Bharatarshab Das, Vice President of ISKCON Bengaluru. The event was chaired by Rambahadur Rai, Group Editor of Hindusthan Samachar and Chairman of IGNCA, with the special presence of Hindusthan Samachar Chairman Arvind Bhalchandra Mardikar. The proceedings were conducted by Editor Jitendra Tiwari.

On this occasion, Gupta urged citizens to adopt the RSS’s concept of “Panch Parivartan” (Five Transformations) as the organisation completes 100 years. He urged people to embrace swadeshi, fulfil civic duties, conserve environment and water, promote social harmony, and strengthen family values. “Family is the identity of India, and we must protect our children from the influence of Western culture,” he said.

He further emphasised that the global expansion of the RSS is the result of the resolve of founder Dr. Hedgewar and the tireless dedication of volunteers who made national service their mission.

Since its founding on Vijayadashami in 1925, the Sangh has worked continuously to strengthen India’s culture, society and national identity.

Gupta said the RSS’s hundred-year journey is the story of national renaissance, cultural resurgence, and disciplined nation-building. From its humble beginnings in Nagpur to becoming a powerful force shaping India’s future, the organisation has remained committed to the nation regardless of challenges. He added that the Sangh has strengthened national security awareness by motivating youth, raising consciousness, and encouraging service in the armed forces and national institutions.
